Three to four projects have been selected to build a strong foundation and key sewing skills. Students will learn safe machine operation and techniques for independent sewing.
Current learning outcomes: -Pillowcase: Learn to sew long straight lines (yes, it's way harder than expected) and how to sew a french seam. This is important technique you will use later for professionally finished garments. -Pencil case or toiletries bag: Learn zipper installation, precision sewing in small spaces and adding a lining. -PJ Pants: Pattern reading and material choice, introduction to fitting if necessary, introduction to working with a serger (provided in class if you do not own one) and elastic installation.
If you do not own a sewing machine, no problem. Just let us know before the session begins and we will put one of our store demo models aside for you. Limited availability.

Join other like-minded sewists and take advantage of Uninterrupted Sewing (U.S.) time in our classroom between 10:30am and 3pm on these posted in-store sew-days!
You can choose your own project and pace. Start new projects or catch up on the "work in progress" pile. This is independent sewing time (no teacher supervision) but of course our staff will be available to assist, and your fellow sewists love to chat and help each other.

Dive into using your serger and learn a variety of techniques for garment construction. You will learn how to use your serger for a polished and professional finish on your clothing and come away inspired to use your serger.
You will be provided a pattern and pre-cut fabric for this class.

Learn to confidently operate your serger by understanding the thread settings and how to make them work for you. Discover speed-threading techniques and how to adjust your stitch settings to suit your sewing needs. This class also covers serger maintenance, and what you can do at home to keep your serger running in peak condition in-between servicing.
This class is geared for the complete beginner and the experienced sewist that wants to hone their skills.

Our favourite part about this class is that it’s not only for beginner sewists. If you want to gain a deeper understanding of your machine, or just have a refresher this class is a great option for you.
This class is for machines that are not the following brands: brother, BERNINA and bernette.

Sew your own adventure! Students will continue to build on their knowledge from the Beginner Adult classes while picking their own projects and receiving guidance from our teacher Debbie. What will you sew?
This is a six-session class. You should have knowledge of working with stretch knit fabrics (i.e. sewing hoodies)

In this project-based class for adults you will continue to build on your knowledge from the beginner level 1 and level 2 classes. Pick your own projects and receive guidance from our teachers .
This is a six-week class session. Projects range from garment making to home decor, quilted items and bag making.

This six week class is secondary to Beginner Adult Sewing 1. In these classes you will build on the skills you learned in Beginner Adult Sewing 1, and prepare you for Intermediate Adult Sewing.
Students will have the opportunity to try sewing on a serger or possibly tryout a new clothing pattern.
This class is a good option for students who have a basic sewing knowledge, but are still working towards completion of the pre-requisites for Intermediate Adult Sewing.

2-in-1 Sport Shorts

A popular style of shorts found in many stores and online shops. Jalie pattern Jacqueline #4671 comes in a range of sizes that can be used for many family members or even friends. The inner shorts include a gusset. Try mixing colors or go all one color. Take it one step further by turning the outer shorts into a skirt instead or adjusting the length that suits you.
Fabric choices: can include a nice breathable cotton-spandex as well as poly-spandex, jersey and nylon-spandex with equal stretch in width and length. Pattern available in store.

These classes are Project-based intermediate level for adults who have completed the beginner level 1 and 2 sewing sessions and wish to continue building their skills in garment making and more.
Continue building your skills and knowledge with our Jalie patterns and sew some pieces for your wardrobe. Other projects may include bag patterns or home decor projects.

Join fellow quilters once per month to work on your unfinished projects or start a new one you have been wanting to try. Do you need help with measuring & cutting or, piecing and sewing? Are you stuck finishing a project? Get advice and a little time for yourself too.
Are you a beginner quilter? No Problem. Tackle one new skill at a time while gaining motivation and confidence to make beautiful quilted items. No project is to small or to big. This class is for small sewing machine quilting. Long arm rental available to finish your items.

Crossbody Utility Bags

These crossbody bags would make running errands, traveling or commuting on public transit a little easier keeping your hands free. This Jalie pattern includes all three sizes of bags in one pattern.
Gain tips and tricks from Jalie brand ambassador Yvette Chilcott in this instruction only class. Classes will be held on Zoom with homework to be completed between sessions.

During this two day sewing retreat you will be able to pick your own patterns to work on and get expert advice and guidance while you sew. Build knowledge, confidence and your wardrobe! ZOE Long-Sleeve Rashguard Swimsuit
