What's New?

Paper Giftboxes

These Honeycomb and Bees Gable Boxes have us thinking about how soon the bees will be buzzing, and flowers will be blooming.

Jenn used her Brother Scan'N'Cut to cut out the cardstock for these sweet gift boxes. The great part about working with an SVG is that you can make it any size you wish, as long as it fits on your mat.

Embroidered Dinosaurs

These dinosaurs make a great gift for the young or young at heart dinosaur enthusiast. The  pieces are made in the hoop, and assembled after. The pattern Lea used is called Stand Up Dinosaurs, and is from OESD.

Ask the Expert!

Expert Tip: Pick the right pins for your project.

Does it matter what pins you pick? It absolutely does. Yes, some pins can be used for multiple purposes however picking the right pins for your project will be important for success.

If you are working with knits, you want a ball point needle so that it doesn't cause runs in your material. If you are working with silk, or other similar textiles like microfibre, then a glass headed silk pin will be the best tool. Denim will bend more delicate pins. Flat headed pins are easy to grab, and lie flat when pinned. Beyond these suggestions there specialized pins for all sorts of other uses as well.

Most importantly, choosing a quality pin makes the biggest difference. Quality pins will be consistent. The tips won't be broken and the shaft wont have any burrs to snag your material on. Choosing a pin with a glass head is always a good choice so that you don't accidentally melt it when pressing your project.

Name That Tool?

Ruler Grip. There are a few ways to add grip to your ruler for a more precise cut depending on your preference.

Grippy is a translucent multi-purpose coating that adds a non-slip surface to your ruler.

A second option is to use Dritz Slip 'N Grips, or Unique Ruler/Template Grips. Place as many or few as you wish, exactly where you want them to be.

The third option is Omnigrid Invisigrip. This is a transparent non-slip material. It is a great option because it can be cut to any size, and applied and removed easily without adhesive.

Until we have an opportunity to see you again! Stay healthy, stay safe!
