Embroidered Organza Ring Bag and Pillow

DIY wedding? No problem. Lea used polymesh cutaway and a medium weight tear away to embroider on the satin before assembling the pillow. The design is called Wedding Rings Heart from OESD. When embroidering on satin, make sure you have a very sharp embroidery needle for the best results.

The ring bag is embroidered organza. The design is called Wedding Bag, and is also from OESD. If you have wanted to try embroidering on organza, but are too intimidated this is your sign to give it a try.

For this project, Lea used two layers of water soluble stabilizer for lace, and one layer of organza floated on top. For extra stability, you could always use a basting box before you begin your embroidery.

Little girls shorts made by Beula

Beula is one of our adult students, and has done a beautiful job on these denim shorts. The pattern she used is Jalie #4347 Denyse Womens Pull on Pants. One of our favourite features of Jalie patterns is the wide size range that comes in every pattern. Each pattern has sizes for small children all the way to adults plus size, and because each size goes up in small increments it is easy to adjust the pattern to fit you perfectly.

Thank you for showing off your project Beula, we can't wait to see what you create in the future.

Ask the Expert!

FAQ: "How do I embroider on Organza?"

Answer: First, match your bobbin thread to your needle so that the design looks sharp on both sides. This is optional, but looks awesome.

Second, hoop up two laters of Water Soluble Stabilizer for Lace or Badgemaster, and float your organza on top using a basting box to secure it, or a little Perfect Baste if you like.

Third, once the design is complete, trim away the stabilizer. Do not pull at it, otherwise you could damage the organza. Soak the material to dissolve the stabilizer, then air dry. You can press gently with a presscloth if you feel it needs it, but make sure you have the right heat according to the fabric.

Name That Tool?

Wool Pressing mat. Are they REALLY worth the hype? In short, yes they are worth the hype. Wool Pressing mats are a fantastic tool in the sewing room, or even the laundry room!

Wool pressing mats hold the heat and steam from the iron, which gives your quilt or garment a hot press from both sides. Also, a wool pressing mat is a great investment because it will last you a very long time. Actually, unless you choose to destroy it, your wool mat will likely last you a lifetime!

Until we have an opportunity to see you again! Stay healthy, stay safe!
