Good day everyone, we hope that summer has been treating you well! We are enjoying our summer so far, and have really enjoyed creating and learning, and getting outside! In between the raindrops, there is time for a trip to the woods for a hike, or to a local town to try a new cafe or restaurant. Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses, or sunflowers, or whatever it is you like.

In the store we just had an amazing event with Alexis from Oro Rosa Patterns, new fabric in waiting to be sewn, and some sizzling hot deals on machines from Bernina and Brother.

Ask the Expert!

This time around we have a tip from the experts that may be a suprise for you!

On many sewing machine feet, there is a built in hump-jumper! Some manuals call it a hump jumer, or height compensator. This is a great tool to use when you are sewing over an unusually thick seam or humps.

So, how do you use it? Sew up to the thickness until the tip of the presser foot lifts up slightly, then stop with your needle down. Lift your presser foot, then push and hold the button in all while lowing the presser foot. The foot will now stay parallel to the needle plate. Once you sew beyond the thickness, it will automatically disengage and you will be able to continue sewing as before.

Name That Tool?

That Purple Thang! We are sure you have met someone that swears by: That Purple Thang. It Pushes, pokes, pulls, p-fudges, p-turns, and p-stuffs.

This is especially helpful when working with thick materials like when sewing a bag, garment or quilt. You can use That Purple Thang to guide your material to the presser foot while keeping your finger out of the way!

Until we have an opportunity to see you again! Stay healthy, stay safe!

Sew On and Sew Forth!
