Jumping into June!

Jumping into June

What are you jumping into this june? We are jumping into trying new things, and having a blast sewing, crafting and making projects. We have jumped into some new classes, and look forward to seeing you there.

What's New

New fabric!

We have three new beautiful bolts! From left to right: Stepping Stone, Porch Light and Flutter By.

We are so impressed with the quality of these fabrics. So nice and soft, you dont want even to cut it, and light enough to be lovely if sewn into a garment!

Ask the Expert!

Hannah Asked: "I bought a self healing cutting mat, but fibres keep getting stuck in it. How do I clean it?"

Hello Hannah, great question! the Self healing part of the mat does require that you remove the fibre build up, and keep your  mat clean.

You can also use the Mat Eraser to rub our any stuck fibres.

Once you have completed that, you can wash the mat with luke-warm water and a soft cotton cloth. Don't use anything that will scrub the mat or chemical cleaners as they could harm the plastic. If you need, some very gentle dishsoap should do the trick!

- The Seam Team

Name That Tool?

Wool Pressing Mat. Why use a wool pressing mat? Why are they SO EXPENSIVE? Are they REALLY worth the press? All great questions.

Why use a wool pressing mat? You get the most beautiful press for quilt piecing, garmentry or even just ironing clothes. The wool holds the heat and steam if you are using it giving you a press from both sides of the fabric.

Why are they so expensive? These mats are 100% high quality wool. Because of their quality, they will last you a lifetime! so they are a great investment for your sewing room or ironing board.

Are they really worth the press? YES! before we released the mats in our shop, we tested them first to make sure that they really were worth the hype, and we were not disappointed. We used the mat for quilting, clothing, and bag making and had a beautiful smooth and crisp press every time.

Until we have an opportunity to see you again! Stay healthy, stay safe!
