Product Review from the Expert!

Gidget II Sewing Table by Arrow Tables

By Charmaine Noel

Do you sew with your machine on a desk or dining room table? Do you find it’s hard on your shoulders and back because it’s sitting so high?

That was me with my machine. Not only was it high to sew on, but the weight of the machine, over the years, was causing the desk I had it sitting on, to bow in the middle, causing me to prop it up on one side for it to connect properly to my embroidery module.

As I watched my desktop sag increasingly every month, I decided it was time to get myself either a better desk with more support or get myself a proper sewing table.

I have an exceedingly small sewing room…really, it’s like a u-shaped office workstation with 3 machines, one on each side of the U. My chair barely moves to get to the next machine, so finding a table that fit along that one wall without a bunch of doors and drawers was imperative.

I checked out the various sewing table brands to see what they offered, and the Gidget II by Arrow checked off all the boxes.

It also had an added feature that my desk didn’t have…the ability to drop my machine into the centre of the table so that the sewing plate bed was level with the tabletop…making sewing a much more shoulder/back/neck friendly activity. A quick pull on a lever and the height adjustable section comes up and allows you to attach the embroidery module with ease. Drop it back down to bring your sewing bed area flush with the tabletop again.

These little tables come fully assembled, weigh about 35 lbs, can fold up and be stored in a closet, laundry room or even under the bed, and yet are strong, hold even the largest of machines and its sister table, the Gidget, is perfect for the machines with a smaller footprint.

If you’re in the market for a strong, yet portable table (it’s the perfect table to take with your machine to the cottage so you can sew your heart out on those rainy summer days), check out the Gidget and Gidget II tables at That Sewing Place. Great prices on in stock supply while they last, so grab one before they’re gone!
